 The Department of Biotechnology, under the National Quantum Mission, invites Indian scientists and faculty—including computer scientists, engineers, and clinicians—holding regular positions with at least four years remaining before superannuation, to submit interdisciplinary and collaborative proposals in quantum biotechnology. The initiative aims to develop India’s academic and industrial ecosystem by advancing quantum-based understanding of biological processes at the atomic level, with applications in biomolecular engineering, diagnostics, synthetic biology, biosensing, and imaging technologies. Priority areas include quantum-inspired simulations, quantum biosensing devices, quantum photonics, and integration with nanorobotics and machine learning. Proposals must involve networked collaborations between institutions with clear complementary roles and can include industrial partners; however, funding will be provided only to academic and scientific institutions. The call supports projects for up to three years, with possible extensions based on performance, and requires timely progress reporting and adherence to all relevant ethical and regulatory frameworks. Preference will be given to proposals demonstrating strong academia-industry linkages, multidisciplinary approaches, public-private partnerships, and alignment with national priorities such as sustainable development goals. Industries may collaborate but will not receive direct funding; instead, they can provide partial support to academic components under written agreements. Indo-French Visiting/Mobility Programme for Women in Science (PROWIS-II)

 The Indo-French Visiting/Mobility Programme for Women in Science (PROWIS-II) aims to promote collaboration between young women scientists from India and France by facilitating advanced research opportunities in frontier areas of science and technology. Eligible Indian applicants must hold a PhD and have a sanctioned or tenured position at a recognized scientific or academic institution, while French applicants should possess a PhD and be currently engaged in a postdoctoral project. Both must be willing to undertake collaborative research at institutions in the partner country. Applicants must be women citizens of India or France, affiliated with recognized universities or research institutions, and the research visit should occur during their employment period. Candidates who have not received any visiting fellowship in the partner country in the last five years and those without prior international exposure will be given preference. The fellowship cannot be held concurrently with other fellowships, although eligibility conditions may be relaxed for exceptional candidates. Required documents include an invitation or hosting letter from the host institution detailing the relevance of the research, its significance to both countries, and the benefits to the applicant’s career; a concise research proposal in STEM or allied fields; and a no-objection certificate from the employer. Convergence Research Centres of Excellence (CoE): Bridging Social Sciences, Humanities, Science & Technology

 Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) aims to establish Convergence Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to promote high-impact, innovative research at the interface of Science, Technology, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Society. These centres will address complex societal problems through collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches, particularly in the context of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data analytics. The program encourages proposals that foster deep cross-disciplinary collaboration, create institutional platforms for transdisciplinary research, and build long-term academic partnerships aligned with societal needs. Each centre must be anchored in a department specializing in social sciences or humanities and must collaborate with investigators from science, engineering, or policy disciplines; inclusion of management science experts is also encouraged to ensure real-world applicability. Proposals must include one Principal Investigator (PI) with a doctoral degree and a strong research track record from the social sciences or humanities, and at least two Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs) from other disciplines, all of whom must hold regular positions in eligible institutions and have at least six years of service remaining before superannuation. The program will support each project for up to five years, with a maximum funding of ₹25 crore per project, aligned with the scope and thematic priorities defined by ANRF. Through this initiative, ANRF aims to build integrated knowledge ecosystems, catalyze interdisciplinary research culture, and contribute meaningfully to societal progress and technological innovation.

These multi-institutional, hub-and-spoke model centers will collect and store diverse imaging datasets of healthy and diseased states, supported by metadata such as demographics, clinical tests, treatments, and outcomes, and will make data accessible to the research community through secure, user-friendly platforms in compliance with BIOTECH-PRIDE and IBDC guidelines. Biomanufacturing of Bio-Based Chemicals, Biopolymers and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in Production Strains

The DBT-BIRAC Joint Call for Proposals under the BioE3 Policy invites submissions focused on the biomanufacturing of bio-based chemicals, biopolymers, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using indigenous or freedom-to-operate microbial production strains.
