The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the BioE3 policy, has announced a joint call for proposals in Bio-AI for the establishment of hubs in Biomanufacturing. Supported under the Bio-RIDE scheme, this initiative aims to foster innovation and bio-entrepreneurship in India, positioning it as a global leader in biotechnology. The call invites problem statements and research solutions in areas such as Biomolecular Design, Sustainable Agriculture, Synthetic Biology, Ayurveda, and Genomic Diagnostics. Multi-disciplinary teams with expertise in synthetic biology, AI/ML, and computation are encouraged to submit Letters of Intent (LoIs), with full proposals to follow for shortlisted applications. The projects should focus on AI-driven, data-intensive research aimed at biomedical, agricultural, and environmental advancements. Research should integrate AI-based solutions and experimental validation, with an emphasis on the development of indigenous AI tools for big data analytics. The program encourages collaboration between academia, industry, and startups, with funding up to Rs 25 crore for a two-year period. Eligible applicants include researchers from government organizations, universities, academic institutions, national laboratories, recognized non-profits, and industry, with a focus on innovative research rather than infrastructure development.
