Call for proposals under wise-SCOPE Fellowships

 "Societal challenges refer to problems and issues that affect societies on a large scale, often spanning across multiple domain such as environment, technology, health, energy, waste, water, management, agriculture, economic, and more. The Women In Science and Engineering (WISE)-Societal Challenges with Opportunities (SCOPE) Fellowship Program of the Department of Science & Technology (DST) aims to provide opportunity to Women Scientists and Technologists who have completed Ph.D. and want to utilize their S&T knowledge and expertise for the benefit of society. This program promotes projects that directly deal with challenges at grassroots level and address them through S&T interventions. Projects under WISE-SCOPE (WISE-Societal Challenges with Opportunities) should provide S&T solutions to our social problems, livelihood generation, drudgery reduction, health and nutrition related issues, management of natural resources, sustainable agriculture, climate change, disaster management etc. "

Project proposal should include the development of viable technology/technique with possibility of lab-to-land transfer, adaptation and scaling up for the benefit of society under following identified broad thematic areas.

  1. Energy, Water and Waste Management (EWWM)
  2. Engineering and Technology Development (ETD)
  3. Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development (ECSD)
  4. Agriculture and Allied Sciences (AAS)
  5. Health, Food and Nutrition (HFN)

CSIR – EU Co-Funding Partnership under the EU Framework Programme “Horizon Europe- Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges - 2024”

 "Horizon Europe (2021-2027) is the European Union (EU)'s research and innovation framework programme, offering opportunities for collaborative research and researcher mobility. The EU’s Horizon Europe - Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions-Staff Exchanges Scheme (MSCASE) supports interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral collaborative projects spanning all research fields and promoting international cooperation between the academic and non-academic organizations (including SMEs). To enable the participation of entities of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), CSIR as the Indian side funding agency and the European Commission (EC), the EU funding side, have agreed to the Co-Funding Mechanism (CFM) to support research and innovation project-based short-term exchanges of staff members of participating organizations under the EU’s MSCA-SE. CSIR and EC aim to support the exchange of scientists, academics and research and innovation staff to promote scientific and technological collaboration and improve international relations. This co-funding initiative aligns with the EU-India Agreement on Science and Technology cooperation1 and the 'EU-India Strategic Partnership: A Roadmap to 2025. Similar co-funding mechanisms have already been established by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), and Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) to support Indian participation in preselected Horizon Europe calls (Pillar 2)."

CSIR, India – NAS, Belarus Call for Research, Development and Innovation Projects 2024

 "The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, India (CSIR) and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NAS of Belarus), in compliance with the MoU on S&T Cooperation, signed between the Parties on May 22, 2023 that provided a framework for promotion of cooperation in scientific technological development, hereinafter referred to as the "MoU", the Parties agreed upon the Program of Cooperation to the MoU, hereinafter referred to as the "POC" signed on April 16, 2024, to specify the terms of implementation of the MoU through cooperation activities to be performed in the period 2024-2026. Now CSIR and NAS of Belarus agreed to announce a joint Call for Proposals. The main objective of this call, launched under this protocol, is to support R&D and innovation projects to promote the scientific and technological cooperation between two countries."

Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy (BASE) Fellowship Program

"Recognizing that climate change, clean and efficient energy and environmental protection are among the biggest challenges facing India and the United States; the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India through its Solar Energy Research Initiative, and the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) are committed to tackling these issues by building capacity in these frontier areas. To nurture future innovators and thought leaders in Solar Energy, the Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy (BASE) Fellowship Program - a dynamic and transformative program has been developed to foster contacts between students and scientists from India and the United States".

DBT-EU joint call on “Horizon-CL5-2024-D3-02-03: Development of smart concepts of integrated energy driven bio-refineries for co-production of advanced biofuels, bio-chemicals and biomaterials

 Collaboration in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) plays an increasingly important role in the EU-India Strategic Partnership. In line with the EU-India Strategic Partnership: A Roadmap to 2025, and the Joint Science and Technology Steering Committee meeting on 12 February 2021, the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), has identified calls for proposals in the Work programmes 2023-2024 of the EU R&I Research and Innovation Programme ‘Horizon Europe’, which it considers of mutual interest and aiming at jointly tackling global challenges. For this, DBT has established a mechanism outlining the conditions upon which it will co-fund the successful Indian entity/ies and in which call topics (hereafter CoFunding Mechanism or CFM). The CFM will apply to the call topics earmarked by DBT in areas of pandemic preparedness and response, brain disorders, biofuels and healthy & environmentally-friendly food.

DST DFG announcement on funding opportunity for Indo-German Research Training Groups (IRTG)

 "International Research Training Groups (IRTGs), in which German universities cooperate with research institutions in other countries, combine innovative top-level research and the structured promotion of excellent early career researchers. As bilateral collaborations set up by experienced scientists, IRTGs promote systematic scientific cooperation through joint research programmes and corresponding qualification measures for (post) doctoral researchers"

BIRAC-Call for Proposal Early Translational Accelerator

 "Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is supporting Early Translation Accelerators (ETAs) to focus on catalyzing transformation of young academic discoveries (publications/patents) with possible commercially viable ventures and technologies. The aim of ETA is to add translational component to establish proof-of-concept/ Validation and to attract industry to take these validated technologies further in terms of development and is expected to collaborate with academic investigators, engage industry and to leverage international translation ecosystems. Two ETA have been already established at C-CAMP and IIT-Madras Bioincubator."

Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-orientation (BioCARe) Programme for Women Researchers for 2024 – 25

"Department of Biotechnology invites the applications under the BioCARe Programme for women researchers. The programme is targeted to enhance the participation of women researchers for their Career Development in the area of Biotechnology.

  • The fellowship is open to Indian Women Nationals residing in India who are upto the age of 55 years and unemployed as on the closing date of the application. The fellowship is co-terminus with the duration of the project.
  • The research support will be provided only to women researcher (unemployed/​not in regular position) for whom this is the first extramural research grant (Women researchers who have received any earlier grant from any Government Funding Agency as Principal Investigator are not eligible)."

Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant

Eligibility: Applicant holding a PhD/MD/MS/MDS/MVSc degree and working in recognized R&D institutions. Must hold a regular academic/research position and apply within 2 years of joining the institution. 

Age limit: 42 years (with 3-year relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/physically challenged and women candidates).
