Invitation For Letter of Interest (LoIs) on ‘SETTING UP OF IMAGE INFORMATIC CENTERS’

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites Letters of Interest (LoIs) for the establishment of Image Informatic Centers to develop high-quality, annotated imaging biobanks integrated with clinical and biological data, aimed at advancing biomedical research and AI-driven diagnostics tailored to the Indian population. These multi-institutional, hub-and-spoke model centers will collect and store diverse imaging datasets of healthy and diseased states, supported by metadata such as demographics, clinical tests, treatments, and outcomes, and will make data accessible to the research community through secure, user-friendly platforms in compliance with BIOTECH-PRIDE and IBDC guidelines. Proposals must include realistic research goals, multidisciplinary teams (radiologists, pathologists, data scientists, etc.), detailed methodologies, and data sharing and sustainability plans. Eligible applicants include Indian researchers from DSIR-recognized institutions and registered NGOs/private institutions with appropriate credentials. Projects may receive up to INR 15 Cr. over five years, with non-recurring costs not exceeding 30%, and preference will be given to proposals with existing datasets and open-source tool usage.

The SreePVF Translational Research Grant Call (2025) invites ambitious proposals from any field of science and technology that focus on cutting-edge “Bench to Bedside” translational research aimed at improving human and public health through deployable, cost-effective interventions with measurable impact. Eligible projects must address disease-related challenges and demonstrate the potential to produce tangible outcomes—such as innovative tools, products, treatments, or interventions—within a three-year timeframe. Proposals related to climate change, agricultural, or ecological sciences are not eligible. Applicants must hold a PhD/MD/MS or equivalent and be affiliated with an Indian university, R&D institution, medical center, or recognized non-profit research organization. Start-ups and for-profit entities may participate only as co-applicants. The Principal Investigator must be under 50 years of age (with a five-year relaxation for women), and must already have secured salary and workspace from their host institution, as the grant does not cover PI salary.
