The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, in partnership with BIRAC, invites proposals under the joint call for Biofoundries and Biomanufacturing Hubs as part of the BioE3 Policy, aimed at advancing high-performance biomanufacturing to support green growth. The initiative seeks proposals for establishing new facilities, augmenting, or utilizing existing infrastructure to scale up proof-of-concept technologies across sectors such as bio-based chemicals, smart proteins, precision biotherapeutics, agri-biologicals, biofuels, and marine/space biotech. Eligible applicants include academia, companies, LLPs, startups, NGOs, trusts, and societies—either individually or in collaboration. Financial support will cover costs like equipment, manpower, consumables, and training (excluding land/construction costs), based on the DBT/BIRAC implementation plan. Facilities must ensure regulatory compliance, offer public access, and demonstrate sustainability through a viable business model. Proposals must include technical details, resource commitments, track record, and commercialization plans.
