Call for Project Proposals under Scheme for Young Scientist and Technologist (SYST)

"The Scheme for Young Scientist & Technologist (SYST) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) is designed to motivate and nurture young scientists and technologists with a solid background in science and technology to undertake application-oriented, socially relevant research projects. The program focuses on supporting young scientists in finding affordable and adaptable solutions to socio-economic challenges, especially for marginalized communities, contributing to sustainable and inclusive development. Project proposals are invited under two components in identified thrust areas: Technologies in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Green Technologies (solutions for underutilized crops/vegetables, sustainable rural housing, textiles from natural fibers and additives, health and hygiene for the underprivileged), Renewable Energy (solutions for sustainable livelihoods), Marine Biology (with a focus on seaweed and fisheries transformative technologies), Waste Valorization (converting agro/animal waste into economic resources), and Occupational Health and Safety (reducing drudgery and enhancing worker welfare). The program includes Component A for employed young scientists and Component B, a special call for unemployed young scientists, particularly from SC/ST categories, aimed at fostering scientific innovations that enhance the welfare of marginalized communities and promote sustainable development."
