The NOMIS and Science Young Explorer Award recognizes outstanding research by early-career scientists who hold an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D., awarded within the past 10 years. The award is given annually to two winners based on research conducted in the past three years. Each winner will receive a cash prize of $15,000, travel and accommodation to the award ceremony, and a 5-year digital subscription to Science. Additionally, they will be invited to propose funding opportunities to the NOMIS Foundation and have their essays published in Science. To apply, entrants must submit a completed entry form, a 1,000-word essay on their interdisciplinary research, a one-page letter of recommendation, a CV including relevant publications and awards, and copies of two related papers. The research must involve both life and social sciences. The use of AI in the creation of submissions is prohibited. Each entry is to reflect the applicant's personal contributions to the research, with no overlapping submissions or essays winning multiple prizes. Previous winners are ineligible for five years.
