Research Projects in Mathematics-NBHM

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) invites applications from faculty members at Indian institutions for Research Project Grants in the broad area of Mathematics. These grants aim to support individual or collaborative research efforts by covering essential project-related expenses for a maximum duration of three years. Eligible faculty must hold a tenure-track or tenured position valid through the proposed project period. Regional Young Investigators’ Meetings Grants 2025– 2026

IndiaBioscience is inviting applications for the Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting Grants (RYIM Grants) for 2025–2026, aimed at supporting Young Investigator (YI)-led initiatives that align with the ethos of national Young Investigator Meetings (YIMs). These grants encourage the strengthening of local scientific communities and the promotion of collaborative leadership among YIs. Each RYIM team must include one YIM alumnus as the lead organiser, who has previously attended a national YIM, and 2–4 co-organisers from diverse research institutes, organisations, or universities in the region. The team is encouraged to reflect diversity in scientific disciplines, demographics, and institutional types. RYIMs are expected to be in-person, 2–3 day events hosted at local institutes or universities, engaging researchers from the broader region. The regions can be defined broadly (North, South, East, West, Central, or North-East India), or according to other locally meaningful definitions. Selected RYIMs will receive funding of up to INR 1.5 lakh from IndiaBioscience.

DBT BIRAC Joint Call for Proposals on Bio-AI for establishing मूल ांकु र hubs under BioE3 Policy for Biomanufacturing

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the BioE3 policy, has announced a joint call for proposals in Bio-AI for the establishment of hubs in Biomanufacturing. Supported under the Bio-RIDE scheme, this initiative aims to foster innovation and bio-entrepreneurship in India, positioning it as a global leader in biotechnology. The call invites problem statements and research solutions in areas such as Biomolecular Design, Sustainable Agriculture, Synthetic Biology, Ayurveda, and Genomic Diagnostics. Multi-disciplinary teams with expertise in synthetic biology, AI/ML, and computation are encouraged to submit Letters of Intent (LoIs), with full proposals to follow for shortlisted applications. The projects should focus on AI-driven, data-intensive research aimed at biomedical, agricultural, and environmental advancements. Research should integrate AI-based solutions and experimental validation, with an emphasis on the development of indigenous AI tools for big data analytics. The program encourages collaboration between academia, industry, and startups, with funding up to Rs 25 crore for a two-year period. The DBT-BIRAC Joint Call for Proposals under the BioE3 Policy invites innovative projects in mRNA-based Precision Biotherapeutics to foster high-performance biomanufacturing in India. This initiative supports the development and scale-up of mRNA technologies for applications such as replacement therapies, vaccines, cell therapies, cancer immunotherapy, gene editing, and personalized medicine. Proposals are invited under two categories: (i) Discovery & Application-oriented Integrated Network Research (TRL 3–5) for early-stage innovation and (ii) Bridging the Gap for Scale-up (TRL 5–8) to advance proven concepts toward clinical translation. Eligible applicants include academia, startups, SMEs, and industry, either independently or in collaboration. Funding will be provided by DBT for academic-only projects and by BIRAC for industry-led or joint proposals, with project durations of up to 2 years, extendable to 5 years based on performance. Proposals must align with regulatory requirements, demonstrate scalability, and contribute to indigenous development of affordable, next-generation biotherapeutics.

DBT-BIRAC Joint Call for Proposals on ‘Precision Biotherapeutics- monoclonal antibodies’ for Fostering High Performance Biomanufacturing under BioE3 Policy.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and BIRAC, under the BioE3 Policy, have announced a joint call for proposals to support the development and manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) as part of India's high-performance biomanufacturing initiative. The goal is to enhance access to affordable, high-quality biotherapeutics, strengthen the country's position as a global hub for biotechnology, and build capacity to respond to ongoing and future healthcare needs. Proposals are invited in two categories: (i) Discovery & Application (Technology Readiness Level 3–5), which includes research on novel mAbs for new therapeutic targets, antibody engineering, infectious diseases, diagnostics, and overcoming resistance mechanisms; and (ii) Bridging the Gap for Scale-up (TRL 5–8), which focuses on scaling up bio-betters, manufacturing raw materials indigenously, and validating technologies for commercial readiness. The call is open to academic and research institutions, startups, companies, and LLPs with required credentials and a minimum of 51% Indian ownership.

The Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists 2025!

"The Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists is awarded annually to one young scientist for outstanding life science research for which they were awarded a doctoral degree in the previous two years. The topic of the entrant's thesis research must be in one of the following categories: Cell and Molecular Biology; Genomics, Proteomics, and Systems Biology approaches; Ecology and​ Environment; Molecular Medicine. Eligible entrants must have been awarded their doctoral degree in 2023 or 2024, and the subject of their thesis should match one of the Subject Tracks below. The winners from each category will compete for the grand prize. All federal, state and local taxes, and any other costs and expenses associated with the receipt or use of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Publication: The grand prize-winning essay will be published in Science, and essays from the each of the category winners will be published online."

Call for Project Proposals under Scheme for Young Scientist and Technologist (SYST)

"The Scheme for Young Scientist & Technologist (SYST) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) is designed to motivate and nurture young scientists and technologists with a solid background in science and technology to undertake application-oriented, socially relevant research projects. The program focuses on supporting young scientists in finding affordable and adaptable solutions to socio-economic challenges, especially for marginalized communities, contributing to sustainable and inclusive development. Project proposals are invited under two components in identified thrust areas: Technologies in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Green Technologies (solutions for underutilized crops/vegetables, sustainable rural housing, textiles from natural fibers and additives, health and hygiene for the underprivileged), Renewable Energy (solutions for sustainable livelihoods), Marine Biology (with a focus on seaweed and fisheries transformative technologies), Waste Valorization (converting agro/animal waste into economic resources), and Occupational Health and Safety (reducing drudgery and enhancing worker welfare). The program includes Component A for employed young scientists and Component B, a special call for unemployed young scientists, particularly from SC/ST categories, aimed at fostering scientific innovations that enhance the welfare of marginalized communities and promote sustainable development."
